No. Invisalign aligners are made to fit and feel comfortable. They move teeth steadily which helps to prevent any damage to the teeth and roots.
Our patients usually describe a feeling of 'tightness' during treatment, which is great, as it shows us that the aligners are doing their job!
The length of your treatment depends on the number of aligner stages your teeth require to get them straight. This can range from approximately 4-12 months.
The best way to know would be to have a consultation, after which a bespoke 3D Clincheck treatment plan can be designed. This would tell you exactly how many aligner stages you would require.
To get the best possible treatment outcome, you must wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. This means removing them only for eating and drinking, or brushing and flossing.
You would change to the next set of aligners every 7-14 days, as instructed by your Invisalign doctor.
Yes. To get your new smile to stay straight, and prevent them from moving back to how they were, we strongly recommend wearing retainers for life.
To keep your teeth in their new position, a removable night time retainer is provided, with or without fixed metal wire attached to the back of your upper and lower teeth.
